Description | Basic Counseling Skills: This course is designed to facilitate development of basic communication skills necessary to develop an effective helping relationship with clients. It includes the utilization of special skills to assist individuals, families, or groups in achieving objectives through exploration of a problem and it's ramifications; examination of alternative solutions; and decision making. | ||||||||||

Learning Outcomes |
Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1. Define the basic counseling skills necessary to the development of an effective helping relationship with clients. 2. Explain the basic counseling skills necessary to the development of an effective helping relationship with clients. 3. Define the various methods of communication 4. Identify barriers to communication in treatment. |
